Overview
Manaus is hiring an intern to join our small, but growing team in our mission to support organizations in advancing their social impact. We are looking for an individual that can effectively conduct research and analysis and who is excited about the opportunity to learn alongside the team. This is a 10 week part-time remote position starting in June 2022. The selected individual will be U.S.-based or international with the ability to work in PST, MST, CST, or EST time zones.
Position Description:
Manaus interns will have the opportunity to conduct research and in-depth analysis for multiple projects in a variety of focus areas including worker well-being, gender equity, international development financing operations, among others.
Specific responsibilities may include:
Conduct qualitative and quantitative research on a variety of topics, such as economic empowerment, financial access, health, education, labor and environmental practices, and gender-development, among others;
Support the development and dissemination of research instruments, including household surveys, stakeholder questionnaires, and focus group discussions, among others;
Lead interviews with key project stakeholders in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French as needed;
Support data mining, cleaning, and statistical analysis, as needed;
Contribute to final reports on key evaluation findings.
Qualifications
The Intern should meet the following qualifications:
Education. Undergraduate degree or pursuing graduate degree in international development, economics, business, or a related field.
Research Experience. Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research and supporting the preparation of research reports. Previous work in qualitative and/or quantitative evaluations and experience with statistical analysis and software such as STATA or R is a plus.
Deliverable Development: Excellent English writing and editing skills. Ability to support the creation of client-ready products including basic visual best practices. Strong attention to detail is a must. Basic knowledge of graphic design best practices for reports and presentations is a plus.
Adaptability & Flexibility. Ability to learn quickly and adapt to the needs of the project and team. Proactivity and attention to detail are critical. Must be flexible to take calls in different domestic and international time zones, as needed.
Language Skills. Written and oral fluency in English (required); Professional proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese, and/or French (desired).
